Seminar: INSIDE GOLF COACHING TECHNOLOGY

The focus is on technologies to measure golf performance, combining a theoretical background of their workings and hands-on practical experience. The technologies range from simple ball tracking systems to a state of the art 3-dimensional biomechanical motion analysis system used to provide in-depth detail about a golfer’s swing. PGA coaches have the opportunity to compare different types of launch monitors, both simple and complex, and to experience their use in conjunction with a golf robot. Finally, coaches are provided with a full motion analysis experience using state of the art technology to highlight the differences between 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional analysis.

Seminar: BIOMECHANICAL ANALYSIS IN GOLF

This course aims to provide those coaches with an interest in biomechanical analysis of golf an insight into the workings of the technology and provide detailed explanation of the outputs from biomechanical analysis. Technology in golf has become more prevalent in recent years with the introduction of launch monitors and biomechanical testing which are used to measure ball and club information as well as a golfer’s body movements. However, it is rarely known or understood how these systems measure this information or how the data is calculated. This seminar will go beyond introducing the technology used to collect and analyse biomechanical golfer data and will provide a more in-depth look at how it works. The outputs from the biomechanical analysis will be explained and compared to current biomechanical literature to help coaches further understand how biomechanics can be used to enhance their coaching.
